With a focus on history, art and religion the Quaker Tapestry Museum is a fantastic space for your pupils to discover a range of topics. Bring your pupils along for a unique learning experience.
We welcome educational visits of all ages. As we are a small museum, we can only accommodate a maximum of 60 pupils per day. Please get in contact to discuss the various options.

We can tailor your visit to various aspects of the curriculum including history, art, religious education and citizenship. We are a supporter of Arts Award.
Art and Design: The Quaker Tapestry tells stories through textiles and is an ideal inspiration and starting point for developing children’s design ideas. Learn how children had a big part to play in the designing and making of the Tapestry. We are a Supporter of the ARTS AWARD.
History: Quakers started many manufacturing businesses including Huntley and Palmer, Fry’s, Cadbury’s, and Rowntree’s. Learn about the important changes Quakers made to the lives of their workers and their families. Find out about their stories through the pictures in the Tapestry panels. Discover what the Quakers did in during World War II.
RE: The Quaker Tapestry Museum is housed in an active Quaker Meeting House. Students visiting the museum can learn about the beliefs and practices of Quakers as well as meeting local Quakers that use the building for their worship.

How much time is needed for an educational visit?
Sessions are tailored to your needs and can last anything from one hour to a whole day.
What is the cost?
For a half day visit, £2 per pupil. A full day visit is £3 per pupil. Teachers and accompanying adults are free.
What facilities for we have for school groups?
A large room is available to school groups for bags, coats and eating lunch. Our beautiful walled garden can be used for picnic lunches in fine weather.
Is the museum accessible to everyone?
We have step free access via the Stramongate entrance. The whole museum is accessible by wheelchair and there is an accessible toilet. Details of our accessibility can be found here and a sensory map can be downloaded. Please speak to us about how we can support your pupils to get the most out of their visit.
Is there a coach drop off point nearby?
There is a convenient coach drop off point directly outside our Stramongate entrance. Parking for coaches is available 2 minutes away at Blackhall Road.
