Quakers have always seen peace as something to be worked for at any time. Carl Heath (1869-1950) pioneered the idea of ‘Peace Embassies’ and Quaker centres have been placed alongside the United Nations in Geneva and New York. Quakers helped to found the School of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford. The two mules come from a peace poster and are now a popular Quaker Tapestry bookmark.
