Janet Sewell Remembered

12th April 1931 – 20th February 2017

Janet Sewell: an ambassador for the Quaker Tapestry

Janet Sewell was part of the QT family for more than 30 years!  Serving on the main committee for many years when everything was organised by an amazing group of volunteers.

As well as played a large part in organising our exhibition trip to Bayeux, France in 1990. Where the Quaker Tapestry was displayed in the same building as the famous Bayeux Tapestry. The inspiration for Anne Wynn-Wilson and the Quaker Tapestry project.

We remembered her fondly during our AGM weekend gathering. Many members have very happy memories of spending time with her and Joe at previous Quaker Tapestry events.

“Brilliant, in many ways. I love embroidery, so thought this would just be interesting to see, but found it was incredibly informative not just about individual Quakers but how much they have done in our society.”

Well worth the entrance fee for the educational aspects alone!
