Innocent Trades

The word ‘innocent’ here had two meanings for Quakers. Firstly, they felt that asking a fair, fixed price for goods was more honest than bartering. Secondly, the Quaker testimony against war meant that they could not manufacture weapons. Therefore trading had to be ‘innocent’. The panel lists some trades considered to be acceptable.
