George Fox in Derby Gaol

From October 1650 to October 1651 George Fox was imprisoned, under the Blasphemy Act, in Derby Gaol. During his imprisonment he was offered the chance of release if he agreed to serve in Cromwell’s army, but he refused. While in prison he wrote and reflected. The market cross with goods and produce round it reminds us that peace depends on economic justice.
