Mandala Embroidery Workshop
28th September 2019
Mandala One Day Embroidery Workshop, Saturday 28th September, 10am-3pm, £60
Back by popular demand!
Mandala, meaning circle, is an abstract design with one identifiable centre point, from which emanates an array of shapes. The perfect place to be mindful and to put many colourful stitches.
Learn new skills and become absorbed and fascinated by this ancient art of narrative embroidery, with a modern twist.
Our workshops provide you with the six basic stitches used within the Quaker Tapestry: Stem, Split, Chain, Quaker, Bayeux Point and Peking Knot. In a relaxed and friendly environment our tutors will guide you through the stitches. Helping you work towards an embroidered picture to finish at home. You don’t need to have any experience in embroidery before you attend the workshop. For those of you who have done some stitching before, this is an opportunity to learn something new and refresh your skills.
Stitch Kit – You will be provided with our workshop kit consisting of all the materials needed to create and finish a stitched picture including: stitching guidelines, finishing tips sheets, calico cloth, crewel needle and Appletons crewel embroidery wool. All the prep is done for you so we’ll be starting stitching straight away!
Equipment – There will be equipment available to use during the workshop.
Refreshments – Hot drinks and biscuits are ‘on-tap’ throughout the session and lunch is available to buy from our on-site Cafe.
FREE entry to the Quaker Tapestry Museum for all attendees on the day of the workshop.
