
The award winning Quaker Tapestry has its permanent home in Kendal's historic Friends Meeting House, built in 1816, which can be found in a prominent position in the centre of this attractive market town. Nowhere could be more suitable as the home for the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition than this fine Georgian building in the heart of "1652 Country" – the place where the Quaker story began – on the edge of the Lake District National Park.The Tapestry is an inspiring and colourful contemporary embroidery, celebrating the ideas and experiences of Quakers through the centuries. Within our early nineteenth century Meeting House you will discover a very modern exhibition and registered museum, with something to tempt everyone.

Most of the 77 panels of the Quaker Tapestry are on display at Kendal. It is possible that a few may be away at other exhibitions. If you wish to view a particlular panel it would be advisable, before your visit, to check with the Quaker Tapestry office that the particular panel is on display.
