The Award Winning Tapestry Tearooms

"Wonderful food and surroundings – an oasis in Kendal"

Winner of the National Vegetarian Society ‘Best Provision for Vegetarians at a Visitor Attraction’ Award 2007

The five star rated Tapestry Tearooms opened in March 2002 as a welcome addition to the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition in Kendal. The wealth of local produce available in this part of Cumbria is used whenever possible to provide an eclectic mix of vegetarian food to suit all tastes.

We have a small staff team working within the Tearooms and our aim is to create an inviting, friendly and peaceful environment, in keeping with the spirituality of the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition Centre.  We'll let Jane, our Tearoom Manager/Cook, take up the story from here...

Welcome!

We look forward to welcoming you to the award winning Tapestry Tearooms, which is located in the courtyard of the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition. You will find a friendly and peaceful environment in which to enjoy our delicious, freshly made, lunches, snacks, afternoon teas and drinks. We have a bright and comfortable tearoom, and a courtyard dining area for those sunny days!

Customer Comments:

“We’ve used the Quaker Tearooms since my daughter was tiny – and it’s the most child-friendly café or tearoom that I have ever used. The staff are very friendly – there are small chairs and high chairs – even baby beakers are provided. The toy box is wonderful for entertaining a toddler and I felt very comfortable breast feeding here. Thank you for making families so welcome.”
