The Quaker Tapestry at the English Tourism ‘Oscars’
The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition and Tearooms at Kendal has been awarded one of tourism’s highest accolades at the national Enjoy England Awards for Excellence. Organised annually by Visit Britain, the awards recognise the best of the country’s tourism businesses and professionals.
The Quaker Tapestry was awarded 'Silver' in the national ‘Best Small Visitor Attraction of the Year’ category, having already won in this class at both the Cumbria and North West Tourism Awards. The Awards Ceremony in York on St George’s Day, April 23rd was a true red carpet affair and the photo shows Bridget and Sheila after the award presentation chatting to the comedian Michael McIntyre who was compere for the night.
Bridget Guest, General Manager of the Quaker Tapestry said: ‘‘We are absolutely delighted to have achieved such a prestigious award. It is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the whole Quaker Tapestry team – staff, volunteers and trustees – that our inspiring and beautiful exhibition, and our commitment to excellent service, has been recognised in this way.’’
