Room Hire Facilities
Our room hire facilities are situated in the Friends Meeting House in Kendal, a grade 2* listed building, which was designed by local architect Francis Webster in 1816 and built on land bought by Quakers for their first Meeting House in 1687. The site has been a place of Quaker Worship for over 300 years and the present Meeting House is regarded as one of the finest Georgian buildings in Cumbria. The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition was established at the Meeting House in 1994.
Our building is conveniently situated close to Kendal town centre, car parks, and bus and rail stations.
For information about access to the building and meeting rooms click here to see our Access Statement.
We offer rooms for hire throughout the year at very competitive prices, which can accommodate up to 80 people attending meetings, presentations, training sessions, interviews and activities, during the day or in the evening.
We can also offer a range of supporting equipment including TV & video, overhead projector, data projector, laptop and flipcharts.
The award winning Tapestry Tearooms offers special refreshments and lunches for those booking our meeting rooms, with vegetarian cuisine freshly prepared on the premises from quality local ingredients.
Al those who attend a meeting at our facilities have the opportunity to view the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition at no extra charge, at times when the exhibition is normally open to the public.
We can also cater for larger scale evening and weekend events, including catering, by arrangement.
We would be happy to talk to you about planning your meeting or event. To arrange your booking and talk through your plans for your day:
